Weald Tutoring Hawkhurst is owned and run by Sally Fisher.

I began my teaching career in 1994 as a secondary school History and English teacher, and since then I’ve held roles including Head of History and Assistant Head Teacher here in Kent. Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of working with children from all backgrounds, and one thing has always guided me: every child can learn — it’s just about finding the way that works best for them.

I was honoured to be one of the first teachers in the UK awarded Advanced Skills Teacher status by the Department for Education, and I’ve also supported national projects such as introducing Learning Objectives into schools. But what I’ve loved most throughout my career is seeing the difference the right support can make to a child’s confidence and learning.

Moving into tutoring has taken me right back to what I value most — working directly with young people, helping them overcome challenges, and celebrating those “lightbulb moments” when things click. It’s a joy to have a front-row seat to their progress every day.
